About Jennifer

From independent founder to global music executive.

Jennifer Cary is a music industry executive, entrepreneur, and strategic advisor with 20 years of experience building, leading, and transforming music businesses.

She founded Sovereign Music and sold the company to Ingrooves in 2017. Following the acquisition, she served as Executive Vice President of Rights & Royalties at Ingrooves, helping leading the company through its acquisition by Universal Music Group in 2019. When Ingrooves was integrated into Virgin Music Group in 2022, Jennifer became Senior Vice President of Royalties, reporting to the CFO until 2025.

Her perspective is shaped by both sides of the music business: building an independent company from the ground up and leading complex financial and rights operations within a global music organization. She understands what successful music businesses look like at scale—and the operational, financial, and strategic decisions required to get there.

Today, Jennifer advises labels, publishers, distributors, investors, and rights holders on business strategy, royalty and rights administration, financial oversight, and complex industry challenges. She is a dispute mediator and a graduate of New York Law School, and was recognized among Billboard’s Women in Music Top Executives in 2022.
